George Hale Talks NFL Division Playoffs

By  |

WELL IT'S BEEN AWHILE SINCE WE LAST MET DURING THE HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE
FOOTBALL SEASON. VACATIONS, BOWL GAMES AND THE HOLIDAYS ALL HAVE COME AND
GONE.

SPRING TRAINING BASEBALL IS OUT THERE SOMEWHERE BUT WE HAVE A FEW MORE SNOW
STORMS TO NAVIGATE FIRST.
THE N F L DIVISIONAL PLAYOFF GAMES ARE THIS WEEKEND.
ONLY 8 TEAMS ARE STILL STANDING AND WE ARE ABOUT TO CUT THAT IN HALF.
THE PATRIOTS ARE COMING OFF THEIR BYE WEEK SO THAT LEFT REPORTERS WITH
NOTHING MUCH TO DO BUT WRITE NUTTY STORIES ABOUT INTERNAL FIGHTING AMONG
BOB KRAFT, BILL BELLICHICK AND TOM BRADY.
THANK GOODNESS WE CAN GET PAST THAT INSANITY AND PLAY SOME FOOTBALL.
SO LET'S HAVE SOME FUN AND TELL YOU WHO WILL WIN THE GAMES.
MY ONE CAVEAT IS DON'T BET THE HOUSE ON ANYTHING I SAY.
LET'S START WITH THE SATURDAY GAMES.
THE ATLANTA FALCONS AT PHILADELPHIA EAGLES

NEVER BEFORE HAS A NUMBER ONE SEED BEEN AN UNDERDOG IN A DIVISIONAL SERIES
GAME. BUT THAT'S WHERE THE EAGLES ARE AND YOU CAN POINT TO THE LOSS OF
CARSON WENTZ AS THE REASON. PHILADELPHIA IS TOUGH UP FRONT AND THEIR FANS ARE
AMONG THE MOST VOCAL. BUT THE FALCONS ARE MUCH BETTER THAN THEIR 10-6 RECORD
AND FOUR LOSSES WERE BY LESS THAN SIX POINTS.
MY PICK IS THAT ATLANTA ADVANCES TO THE NFC TITLE GAME
OK LET'S MOVE ON TO THE GAME YOU ARE INVESTED IN EMOTIONALLY.
THE TENNESEE TITANS AT NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS
HEY I'VE GOT TO BE HONEST HERE. OF COURSE I CHEER FOR THE PATRIOTS BUT THERE
HAVE BEEN TIMES I REALLY DOUBTED THEY WOULD WIN A CERTAIN GAME.
NOT THIS TIME.
THERE IS NOTHING IN THE STAT SHEETS THAT INCIDATE AN UPSET IN THE MAKING IN THIS
GAME. SURE THE TWO QUARTERBACKS GET ALL THE ATTENTION AND TENNESSEE IS
GOOD AGAINST THE RUN BUT HOW DO THEY STOP TOM BRADY AND CREW FROM PUTTING
NEARLY 300 PASSING YARDS ON THE BOARD.
THEY WON'T . THE FIRST HALF WILL BE INTERESTING BUT NEW ENGLAND SHOULD WIN THIS
GAME WITH EASE.
I'M PICKING NEW ENGLAND TO EASILY BEAT THE 13 POINT SPREAD AND ADVANCE.
ON SUNDAY WE COULD SEE THE GAMES OF THE WEEKEND
THE JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS AT PITTSBURGH STEELERS
THE STEELERS ARE A STEAMROLLER AND THEY ARE HOME. WINNERS OF TEN OUT OF THEIR
LAST 11 GAMES AND WE KNOW WHO BARELY KNOCKED THEM OFF. WAY BACK IN WEEK 5
THE JAGS DID WIN AT HEINZ FIELD BUT THAT WAS YESTERDAY. JACKSONVILLE IS VERY GOOD
BUT WILL THEY BE GOOD ENOUGH TO STOP BIG BEN. NOT TWICE IN ONE SEASON.
MY PICK IS PITTSBURGH BUT THE SCORE MAY BE A LITTLE CLOSER THAN I'M THINKING.

AND THAT BRINGS ME TO THE CITY WHERE THE SUPERBOWL WILL BE PLAYED.
THE NEW ORLEANS SAINTS AT MINNESOTA VIKINGS.
A LOT TO BE CONSIDERED IN THIS GAME . THE VIKINGS WON IN WEEK ONE BUT CAN'T PUT
A LOT OF STOCK IN THAT.
I LOVE DREW BREES AND HIS PERCENTAGES BUT THE KEY MIGHT BE THE VIKINGS ABILITY TO
STOP THE RUNNING GAME.
MY PICK IS MINNESOTA ADVANCING TO THE NFC TITLE GAME

OK THERE YOU HAVE IT: WINNERS ARE ATLANTA, NEW ENGLAND, PITTSBURGH AND
MINNESOTA.
SO WHY DON'T I JUST FINISH THE JOB AS LONG AS I'M HERE.
IN THE CONFERENCE CHAMPIONHIPS:
NEW ENGLAND WILL BEAT PITTSBUGH BY 10 PTS
MINNESOTA WILL KNOCK OFF ATLANTA BY 7 PTS
AND IN THE BIG ONE
NEW ENGLAND WILL DEFEAT MINNESOTA BY 6 POINTS AND BRADY HAS ANOTHER RING.
SO NOW YOU DON'T HAVE TO DO ANY HOMEWORK AS I HAVE DONE IT ALL FOR YOU.

BUT JUST IN CASE THE DOG EATS MY HOMEWORK I'LL BE BACK NEXT WEEK TO REGROUP.

THIS IS GEORGE HALE WITH MY PERSPECTIVE ON SPORTS.
