FREEPORT, Maine (WMTW) - One woman was killed in an overnight house fire in Freeport Saturday morning.

Crews were called to the scene on the Wardtown Road just before two Saturday morning.

Officials say police officers made it to the scene first where crews tried to save one woman, but were unable to because of the smoke.

We're told three others were inside the home, but made it out OK.

The home is a total loss.

The Fire Marshal's office is investigating a cause.
