Waterville Creates to Host First-Ever 'Joy to the Ville' All-Day Event on Saturday

WATERVILLE, Maine (WABI) - Waterville continues to embrace the holiday spirit with a day of free community events planned for Saturday.

Waterville Creates has partnered with several groups to bring the first-ever 'Joy to the Ville' event.

It will serve up family-friendly entertainment, shopping discounts at local businesses and a ton of food throughout the city.

Craft activities include holiday card and ornament making. There will also be a free screening of the movie 'Elf' at the Opera House.

And several businesses will be offering home-made goodies like hot cocoa and sugar cookies.

"Actually it was all brought up because a member of the community came and approached Waterville Creates at a city council meeting and said, 'you know it'd be really nice this holiday if maybe we could have some free movies or cartoons for kids around the holiday at the Opera House just to give them something fun to do.' And we thought you know that's a great idea. We could do that and I bet we could do a little more," said Nate Towne, Marketing Manager for Waterville Creates.
