UNITY, Maine (WABI) - A man from Unity will spend nine months in jail for stealing scrap metal.
32-year-old Matthew Cowette pleaded guilty last week to theft and burglary.
In August he brought the stolen scrap metal to a recycling facility in Carmel.
When police arrested him, they found a battery stolen from a garage, too.
Cowette was on probation for a previous burglary.
The judge revoked part of that probation, sending him back to jail.
He was also ordered to pay $540 in restitution.
