Two Men Recovering After Snowmobile Accidents On Rangeley Lake

RANGELEY, Maine (WABI) A Massachusetts man is recovering after a serious snowmobile accident on Rangeley Lake Friday night.

Game wardens say it happened just after 10pm near Hunter Cove.

They say 45-year-old Kevin Barrett collided with a pressure ridge and was taken by LifeFlight to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

They are investigating factors that may have contributed to this crash.

This comes just two days after they say another snowmobile crashed into a pressure ridge near the same spot.

46-year-old Mark Chase of Baldwin, Maryland is recovering after also being airlifted to CMMC for serious injuries.

The Maine Warden Service reports there have been several snowmobile incidents in the past few weeks involving pressure ridges on lakes and ponds. Riders are urged to use extreme caution while operating on any body of water, especially at night.
