Truck Loaded With Wood Chips Involved in Crash in Athens

ATHENS, Maine (WABI) The driver of a tractor trailer loaded with wood chips crashed his rig Tuesday after falling asleep at the wheel.

It happened on South Main Street in Athens.

The truck is owned by Chaffee Transport out of Clinton and was being driven by 50-year-old Bruce Paul of Clinton.

He was not injured but was taken to a hospital to be checked out.

An excavator was used to off load the chips from the trailer.

Paul was cited for failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle.
