BELFAST, Maine (WABI) A Thorndike woman has pleaded guilty to manslaughter after a woman died during a home invasion in Burnham.

37-year-old Tara Shibles is charged in the death of 72-year-old Joyce Wood.

Wood had a heart attack outside her home on Horseback Road in April.

In a Belfast courtroom today, Shibles changed her plea as part of a deal with the state that will send her to jail for 10 months.

According to police, Shibles broke into wood's house early in the morning and jumped in bed with her.

Wood called 911 to report it.

She ran out of the house...relatives found her collapsed in the driveway.

The medical examiner says the shock of everything triggered wood's heart attack.

"She's sensitive to both sides, she's sensitive to the feelings of the family of the victim," said Shibles' attorney Steven Peterson. "On the other hand she's also concerned about her family two daughters that are sitting in court room."

"I know it's not going to make it better," said Shibles in court. "I know it's not going to take it away. but i never meant to hurt anyone. i'm sorry."

Shibles is due to start her sentence immediately.
