BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - A local retailer is teaming up with the Salvation Army to making sure kids in need have what they need to head back to class.
Target in Bangor is hosting a school supply drive Friday.
A drop off station is set up in the parking lot.
They're looking for supplies that could help students from kindergarten to high school, like paper, pencils, markers, rulers and folders.
You can also give money to the effort and the Salvation Army staff will do the shopping for you.
Salvation Army Captain Rebecca Kirk says, "We have a kettle out. We promise all of the money that's donated is going directly to the school supplies. Or if people would like to send us a check and just put in the memo line it's for the back to school drive, we will absolutely spend the money on the school supplies and it will go directly to the children of our community."
The drive runs until 6 p.m.
The Salvation Army will start handing out the school supplies to students next week.
