Sunday River Officials Say One Person Has Died After Sledding Crash

NEWRY, Maine (WMTW) One person was killed early Wednesday morning in a sledding incident at Sunday River, Oxford County Chief Deputy Hart Daly said.

Daly did not elaborate about the identity of the deceased.

A spokeswoman for Sunday River said the incident was reported at 2 a.m. on the Tempest Trail, which is an advanced trail.

The sled went off the trail and crashed.

A second person involved in the incident was taken to the hospital, Daly said.

The Oxford County Sheriff's Department is investigating the incident.

Sunday River said the three own a condominium at the resort.
