BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - Some jobs are being cut at Saint Joseph Hospital in Bangor.
In August, it was announced that 23 jobs in the billing department would be impacted.
The cuts are because of changes in the way the hospital does billing.
Saint Joseph representatives say they are giving employees opportunities to look for different jobs and have been given them incentives to stay before final decisions are made.
"We tried to give them almost a year's worth of notice so that they were aware of what was happening so they could plan," said Mary Prybylo, President of St. Joseph Health Care. "We're helping them to retrain for other jobs. So our greatest concern were about these employees and trying to get them a good landing in terms of another position."
5 of the 23 employees affected have already found other jobs at Saint Joseph.
