Sign With Famous Signature Up-For-Bid to Benefit Charity

BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - A small business in Bangor has a big item up for bid.

Knotty Craft Ideas creates Town Line signs for people to hang in their homes and recently made one for Derry, Maine.

In case you're unfamiliar with Stephen King books, Derry is a fictional town the author made up but acknowledges it's his portrayal of Bangor.

This unique sign is upped in value after being signed by Stephen King himself.

Through friends of friends, the sign creators were able to get the sign to Florida and back so the famous author could scribble his John Hancock.

Now, the sign is up for bid on Ebay and the money will be donated to a great cause.

Heather Turner, Co-Owner of Knotty Craft Ideas says, "We have a really good friend who lost his daughter to cancer a year ago. She was 7 years old. Through that journey, we found out that there is not as much funds going to childhood cancer research as there is adult. So, we decided that's where we wanted our money to go. So, we teamed with Champion the Cure Challenge at Lafayette Cancer Center in Brewer."

There are five days left in the bidding and it's already reached $1,000 as of Thursday.

The money raised will also be matched by the Woodcock Foundation, doubling the donation.
