HERMON, Maine (WABI) - The Samaritan Food Pantry is in need of volunteers, specifically drivers.
Their mobile pantry travels to several Bangor area communities delivering food to those in need.
Monday, they were at Hermon Baptist Church.
Manager Jenny Sanborn says their volunteers serve more than 200 people a week.
"An elderly single person that comes in, to anywhere from a family of six. When you're down and out on your luck and you're not having any money to buy food, it's extremely humbling to come to somebody and say hey I need some help. They've got tears in their eyes. You know, to be that person to say here you go, here's enough food for four, five days even... Makes you feel so good."
A standard license is required to drive.
