Route 1 Reopened After Truck Collides With Train In Danforth

DANFORTH, Maine (WABI) A truck collided with a train on Route 1 near Danforth last night, closing that stretch of road for nearly twelve hours.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office says a logging truck hit a train, knocking if off the tracks.

The impact caused a box car to derail, sliding across the road into nearby woods.

Authorities say the operator of the train reported losing power and when the train's crew walked along the tracks, they found the truck in flames about a half mile back.

It's unknown why the Woodland-bound truck didn't stop.

Officials say all the emergency lights at the crossing were working.
