OLD TOWN, Maine (WABI) - Three people are being treated for minor injuries after their car went into the water Wednesday afternoon in Old Town.

One person got out on their own, the other two were rescued by emergency crews.

Authorities were called to College Avenue extension in Old Town just before 2:00 p.m.

When crews arrived, they found a car on its side near the edge of the road, partially submerged in a river.

We're told the biggest challenge was stabilizing the car in order to get the two people out without injury.

"Extraction was to stabilize the motor vehicle which was used with stabilizing platforms. The vehicle roof was cut and then two were extracted by us and the other one was self-extracted," said Old Town Public Safety Director, Scott Wilcox.

No word yet on the cause of the crash.
