Rockland Preps for the 14th Annual Pies on Parade

The Historic Inns of Rockland are bracing for one of their busiest days of the year. The 14th Annual Pies on Parade.
“There will be 25 different venues representing about 30 different businesses because we have business from out of downtown partnering with business downtown to deliver about 50 different types of pie,” said Frank Isganitis, Co-Owner of the Limerock Inn.
On January 28th, folks will tour businesses sampling local sweet and savory pies. 100 percent of the proceeds will be donated to the Knox County AIO food pantry.
“We donate all our time, we donate all the product,” said Isganitis. “There's a thousand bucks in credit card charges for purchasing the tickets and such that we absorb to make sure that all of the money that each of the participants give goes to help those in need.”
“This community is great for supporting AIO and they always have and they get better and better at it as time goes by. Unfortunately, the need grows too,” said Marty Shaw of the AIO Food Pantry.
For the first time ever, the event will expand beyond the city of Rockland. On the day before Camden will host a scavenger hunt to lead up to the main event.
“It’s really a community wide event,” said Lisa Weiss, Co-Owner of the Hawthorn Inn in Camden. “Not just any one particular town but even towns that aren't served by Knox County AIO.”
Organizers say Pies on Parade has become a staple event for members in the community. It’s a chance to help others while gorging on some tasty treats.
“What I think people love about pies is that for a lot of people like me, it evokes all kinds of great memories,” said Isganitis, “and it really is a celebratory event that brings everybody together for their own unique experience.”
