BANGOR, Maine (WABI) A man from Abbot charged with murdering his ex-girlfriend has been found guilty.
Jurors came back with a verdict in the case of Robert Burton at noontime Thursday.
They started deliberating Wednesday afternoon.
Burton shot and killed Stephanie Gebo at her home in Parkman two years ago.
He then ran off and hid in the woods for nearly 70 days, sparking the longest manhunt in state history.
Prosecutors told the jury in closing statements Gebo feared Burton after their break-up and reminded them how she slept with a gun under her pillow.
Burton's lawyers countered, saying Burton was innocent and that Gebo invited him into her home and actually intended to kill him.
Burton faces 25 to life in prison when he's sentenced.
