ORONO, Maine (WABI) The Orono Bog Boardwalk was vandalised Wednesday night.

Boardwalk Director Jim Bird says, that nearly a dozen railings were kicked or torn off the boardwalk.

A few of the railings were then thrown into the bog.

He said it had to have happened sometime after 6:30 last night after the person who closes the boardwalk did their final walk-through.

This is not the first time this year the boardwalk has been hit by vandals.

(Jim Bird, Director of the Orono Bog Boardwalk)"This year there seems to been a lot, this is the 4th one this year since May 1st. Last year and the last few years, maybe 1 or 2 a year. So this is sort of uncommon they don't do a lot of damage but basically the railing and throw them in the bog. It's sad, frustrating, and get angry at it. Don't know why people do it. Basically a sad situation they keep on doing it."

Bangor Police are investigating.

Director Bird says it will probably take an hour or so Thursday afternoon to fix what was damaged.
