One Teen Killed, One Injured When Inflatable Tube Crashes on Ski Trail

NEWRY, Maine (WMTW) One person was killed early Wednesday morning and another was seriously injured in a sledding accident at Sunday River, Oxford County Chief Deputy Hart Daly said.

The Sheriff's Department said the person killed was a 18-year-old man.

A 17-year-old boy was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

Both are from New Hampshire, deputies said. Their names have not been released.

A spokeswoman for Sunday River said the accident was reported at 2 a.m. on the Tempest Trail, which is an advanced trail.

The inflatable tube they were riding went off the trail and crashed into a tree, deputies said.

No other details were released, and the investigation is ongoing.
