Old Town Citizens Police Academy

OLD TOWN, Maine (WABI) Old Town residents can rest a little easier now knowing that there are 7 new members of the police force.

They are all 7th graders.

The students went through the Old Town Police Department's Citizens Academy this week.

From the sounds of it they learned the most from visiting local service locations and seeing what they do to keep people safe.

"All week long we had a lot of positive feedback" said OTPD officer Willie King, "The tours they went on were all positive feedback. I understand they went home and told their families and did some of the demonstrations for their families."

"It was really fun. I love the K9. When I get older I want to be a game warden with a K9" said one your graduate.

"Most interesting thing was when we got to actually go into a live courtroom during a court presentation," added another.

Officer King says the plan is to open the academy up for kids again next summer.
