WATERVILLE, Maine (WABI) A Colby College graduate has donated $1,000,000 to help build a new community space within one of the school's residence halls.

Malcolm Chace graduated from Colby in 1990 and now works as a finance executive in Rhode Island.

The 3,800 square-foot "Chace Community Forum" will be located on the first floor of the new Main Street dormitory currently under construction.

The space will house the Waterville City Council so students can attend public meetings more easily.

The new dormitory, called the "Bill and Joan Alfond Main Street Commons", is scheduled to open in late August.
