Man Who Killed Waterville Nuns Dies in Nursing Home

The man who killed two nuns and severely injured two others in Waterville more than 20 years ago has died.
The Kennebec Journal reports 58-year-old Mark Bechard died Sunday in a Freeport nursing home.
He had ALS.
Officials say Bechard was experiencing a psychotic episode when he broke into the chapel at the Servants Of The Blessed Sacrament Convent in January 1996.
He was found not criminally responsible by reason of mental illness and placed into state custody.
