Man Who Blinded Woman in Attack Sentenced to 12 years

AUGUSTA, Maine (WABI) - A man who attacked a woman in Augusta and left her blind in one eye has been sentenced to 12 years in prison.

49-year-old Terrence Townes of Bangor was convicted of aggravated assault in December.

A Kennebec County judge handed down sentencing that comes with 4 years probation on Wednesday.

Townes was accused of using a fire extinguisher to beat the woman but the jury couldn't reach a verdict on that.

He was found not guilty on another charge of assault.

Townes was living in Augusta last year when he got into a fight with another tenant.

The property manager intervened and that's when Townes attacked her.
