BANGOR, Maine (WABI) It's been almost two weeks since two American Red Cross volunteers left Bangor to help in the effort down south.
They drove down a disaster relief truck and are currently stationed in Belmont, Texas.
The volunteers are on feeding duty delivering meals to up to 600 people a day from their truck.
They say people down there remain hopeful but the storm has left so many in desolate condition.
Corina Hamlin, a Red Cross volunteer says, "Somebody stopped and got a meal and she was telling us that her Insurance guy told her not to throw anything out, they wanted to come and take a look at it. She said, well you can come and look at it but my house is down the Naches river. And it was pretty much gone, it was gone so she is staying with friends and everything. It's stuff like that that breaks your heart."
The Red Cross say they are in desperate need of volunteers.
If you are interested in volunteering you can call your local Red Cross Chapter for more information.
