(WMTW)- Maine is seeing a spike in sexually transmitted diseases.
Health officials say it's not at an alarming rate yet but syphilis, gonorrhea and chlamydia are on the rise.
The message comes as National Condom Week starts Wednesday -- on Valentines Day.
Planned Parenthood had 22,000 tests last year for STI's, that's a 17% increase over 2016.
"I think what people need to be mindful of is that one getting tested, using condoms, making sure they have full information or that the most important steps to reducing their risk of getting an STI," Nicole Clegg of Planned Parenthood of Northern New England.
Planned Parenthood says there is a free testing and other prevention services available.
