Maine Politicians Make Good On Super Bowl Bets

BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - Time to pay up.

Some Super Bowl bets are being settled between some politicians in Maine and Pennsylvania including Bangor City Council Chair Ben Sprague.

He'll be sending Bangor, PA's mayor Brooke Kerzner whoopie pies, blueberry pie, Moxie and Stephen King books.

Spraque tells us even though it was tough to watch the Patriots lose the Super Bowl to the Eagles it was great getting to know the other Bangor mayor.

"It was a lot of fun and the true intent of it all along was to put out a good, positive Bangor story, and show off our Bangor a little bit, so we get to talk about ourselves and the special things like whoopie pies and blueberry pies and Stephen King so that was all fun and in the end, I think we're all winners, as they say. It would have been great if the Patriots had won, but a bet's a bet," says Sprague.

Sprague says he would love to get the change to make the bet happen again.

Congressman Bruce Poliquin placed a bet with Pennsylvania Representative Charlie Dent.

He'll be sending him lobster rolls and Aroostook County potato candy.

Portland Mayor Ethan Strimling will be shaving his head after losing out on his bet with the mayor of Portland, Pennsylvania.
