According to the Coast Guard, the captain of the Black Beauty contacted them Friday afternoon.
The Coast Guard said the captain was unable to receive help from a sister ship and was concerned about the impending weather.
He reported that five people aboard and about 30,000 pounds of catch were aboard.
The Coast Guard responded to the distress call and arrived on the scene around 3:30 a.m. Saturday to tow the vessel to Gloucester Harbor.
There were no injuries, the Coast Guard said.
