MLK Day Celebrations to be Held Across the State

Maine (WABI) Nearly 50 years after the death of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Junior the country continues to remember his legacy by observing Martin Luther King Day.

Next Monday many across the state will celebrate the federal holiday by holding walks, ceremonies, breakfasts, and candlelight vigils.

Over the years the day has also evolved into a day of service where folks are encouraged to volunteer and help others in their community.

Here is a list of some of the events happening in our area:

Candlelight walk from Post Office Square to The First Church for a celebration with music, readings from Dr. King's work, and commemoration of past and current struggles for racial justice.
