MEMA Assessing Storm Damage for Possible Disaster Declaration

Maine (WABI) The Maine Emergency Management agency is sending teams into the field to boost the case for Maine receiving federal aid because of the recent wind storm.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency and local and county officials began their assessment yesterday and continue today.

A MEMA official says it will continue into next week if necessary.

There were nearly a half million outages at homes and businesses statewide and some didn't get their power back for more than a week.

The data will help Governor LePage decide whether to ask President Trump for a formal disaster declaration.
