Local Officials Offer Advice For Upcoming Weather Conditions

BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - The Penobscot County Sheriff's Office is urging folks to drive carefully during Saturday and throughout the rest of the weekend.

They want to remind drivers if you don't have automatic headlights, don't forget to turn them on in the rain or the snow- it's the law.

The Sheriff's Office also offers this advice.

Troy Morton, Sheriff of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office said, "Even the best drivers can still struggle, four wheel drive vehicles still slide on ice. It's important in the rain type of weather like this to make sure you have adequate wipers on your vehicles, tires, and knowing that just because you have four wheel drive doesn't mean you can cross ice safely.”

As always, authorities suggest drivers should plan ahead and take extra time to get to where you are going.
