Jury Convicts Man After Assault Leaves Woman With Blindness

BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - A man who attacked a woman in Augusta and left her blind in one eye is waiting to be sentenced after a jury found him guilty of aggravated assault.

49-year-old Terrence Townes of Bangor was convicted last week after a four-day trial.

Townes was accused of using a fire extinguisher to beat the woman but the jury couldn't reach a verdict on that.

Townes was found not guilty on another charge of assault.

Townes was living in Augusta last year when when he got into a fight with another tenant.

The property manager intervened and that's when Townes attacked her.

Another man was eventually able to break up the fight.
