Hermon Father And Son Killed In Snowmobile Accident

HERMON, Maine (WABI) - Authorities say a Hermon man and his son died Sunday morning in a snowmobile accident in Hermon.

They say 33-year-old Jason Tracy and his 10-year-old son were killed when they struck a tree on the edge of a field.

It happened around 1 a.m.

Maine Game Wardens, State Police Troopers, Penobscot County Deputies were on scene.

They say Tracy's son was wearing a helmet at the time, but Tracy himself was not.

Warden Lt. Dan Scott cited speed and alcohol as contributing factors to the crash and indicated wardens continue to investigate the incident.

Scott added, "EMS units from Hermon Fire and Rescue, Levant Fire and Rescue and Capital Ambulance all assisted and were very helpful with the incident."

The Maine Warden Service reminds riders to slow down, never drink and ride, and be conscious of hazards and other riders on the trails.
