HAMPDEN, Maine (WABI) It was all about the kids today in Hampden.
Thousands of kiddos and their families turned out for the 38th annual Hampden Children's Day.
The day started with a parade at Reeds Brook Middle School.
The fun continued throughout the day with games, bounce houses, and face painting.
Organizers say it's a great way to get the kids together before they head back to school.
"It's for the kids. Pure and simple that's all it's for. It started out 38 years ago as "Children's Night by the fire department and the emergency crews and then it evolved into "Children's Day" and it's been a great event."
The event concludes tonight with a fireworks show at 9:00.
