Governor Pulls Reappointments of Five Judges Scheduled for Monday

AUGUSTA, Maine (WABI) -
Five sitting district and superior court judges will not be confirmed by the State Senate Monday, as scheduled.

Governor LePage pulled the nominations three days before the scheduled reappointments, which are on the agenda for Monday's special session of the legislature.

Speaker of the House Sara Gideon says the move came with no explanation from the Governor.

In letters to Gideon dated Friday, the Governor said he was withdrawing nominations for Superior Court Justices Robert Murray Jr. of Bangor, MaryGay Kennedy of Brunswick and Ann Murray of Bangor.

He pulled the nominations for District Court Judges Bruce Jordan of Veazie and Susan Oran of Auburn, too.

Gideon calls the decision deeply troubling because the Governor didn't give any reason for it.
