AUGUSTA, Maine (WABI) Governor LePage has ordered that a committee be established to review investigations of animal cruelty.

He says as abuse cases are on the rise, better cooperation among law enforcement is critical.

The committee will be tasked with reviewing laws and ascertaining the effectiveness of the animal welfare program to find where it can be improved.

The governor has asked that the panel be ready to report to him in August.
