Governor Changes Mind; Five Judges Back on Legislative Agenda for Reappointment

AUGUSTA, Maine (WABI) - Five sitting district and superior court judges are now expected to be confirmed by the State Senate Monday, as scheduled.

Governor LePage pulled the nominations three days before the scheduled reappointments, which are on the agenda for the special legislative session.

But late Monday morning, he changed his mind.

Speaker of the House Sara Gideon says the initial move came with no explanation from the Governor.

In letters to Gideon dated Friday, the Governor said he was withdrawing nominations for Superior Court Justices Robert Murray Jr. of Bangor, MaryGay Kennedy of Brunswick and Ann Murray of Bangor.

He pulled the nominations for District Court Judges Bruce Jordan of Veazie and Susan Oran of Auburn, too.

No reason was given as to why the Governor put all of the nominations back on the table Monday.
