BANGOR, Maine (WABI) Free legal advice, helping the community with civil legal matters.
You'll find it at the Bangor Public Library Tuesday, March 6th.
The Maine Volunteer Lawyers project will host Legal Services Day.
From 2pm to 6pm they'll help low income residents with legal guidance on such things like bankruptcy, debt collection and foreclosure.
"It's things that I think people find very intimidating to deal with on their own and sometimes just talking through with someone, even if you don't actually end up needing a lawyer can be a big relief. And, then if you do, to have support beyond that because it gets big and expensive and scary and just to have someone to hold your hand through the process is great," says reference librarian Clare Davitt with the Bangor Public Library.
You can always access the online legal databases through the library.
While they will be covering a variety of topics on legal services day they will not be working on family law.
Organizers say family law clinics operate weekly at different Maine court houses.
