Former 'Favorites' Employee Sued for Allegedly Stealing $696,000

WATERVILLE, Maine. (WABI) An Augusta man is being sued by the owner of a Waterville gambling establishment that accuses him of stealing nearly $700,000.

The Kennebec Journal reports the owner of 'Favorites,' an off-track betting parlor, says 50-year-old Michael Tardiff stole $696,000 during the past three-and-a-half years of his employment.

The lawsuit was filed in the parlor's name Pioneer Gaming LLC.

Tardiff worked as a teller at the parlor. He's accused of taking the money between November 2013 and August of this year.

The Kennebec Journal says no criminal charges have been filed against Tardiff.
