Fire at Fisher Engineering in Rockland Forces Workers to Evacuate

ROCKLAND, Maine (WABI) Fire officials say a spark from a grinding wheel started a fire at Fisher Engineering in Rockland that forced workers to evacuate.

Workers called for help about 9:30 Friday morning.

The Rockland Fire chief says the fire started in some air handling equipment and workers tried to contain it with a fire extinguisher.

By the time crews arrived, smoke and flames were still coming from the air handler.

Because of all of the smoke, the building was evacuated.

We're told the fire was put out without affecting any other areas of the plant.
