AUGUSTA, Maine. (WABI) On the final day of the Maine Agricultural Trade Show, more than 150 farmers took part in the 10th annual Maine Farmers' Market Convention.
It gave folks an opportunity to network and learn more about their friends and neighbors' businesses.
Keynote speakers and exhibits detailed how to brand a farmers' market, how to use digital tools like apps for market management, and how to find community sponsors and fundraise.
Farmers also brushed up on upcoming legislation that could impact their business.
"Any regulations that are applicable to the farmers markets, they offer SNAP and WIC nutrition informational sessions," said Ashley Sears, Marketing Specialist for the Dept. of Ag.
The Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation, and Forestry was also on-hand to test scales to ensure they're in compliance.
