Ellsworth businesses team up to thank teachers

Some teachers in Ellsworth got a nice surprise recently.
All of the teachers at Ellsworth Elementary-Middle School were awarded $100 Hannaford gift cards.
The gifts came from Stanley Subaru and Hannaford.
More than 50 cards were handed out to the teachers.
One of the principals at the school says the gift means so much to the teachers who often spend money on their students out of their own pockets. "Teachers do it very selflessly because they want to have nice things for their kids, so when somebody can help them out and put a little bit of money, actually a lot of money, back in their pockets that they can use towards future purchases that's greatly appreciated."
"We wanted to make it special this year and so Hannaford stepped up to the plate with us and they've done so much with food insecurity in schools and they made it easy for us and Ellsworth is our hometown heroes and we were happy to be here to give these," said Mark Politte, owner of Stanley Subaru.
Stanley Subaru also delivered 600 care packages to teachers this year and offers free oil changes to teachers in the month of May.
