LIBERTY, Maine A Persian Gulf war veteran from Liberty is carrying on his mother's legacy.
Mark Schneider crochets scarves and donates them to charities.
His mother used to make scarves for children during her chemotherapy treatments. After she passed away Schneider decided he wanted to continue her work.
So, he taught himself how to crochet and has donated countless scarves and blankets. Besides helping others, he says his hobby is good for his health: "It helps me with my PTSD big time. It keeps me focused on one thing instead of my mind racing and doing a hundred different things. My mom's looking over me. I know she's proud of what I'm doing."
He thoughtfully crocheted scarves for Chris Ewing, Emily Tadlock, and Taylor Kinzler to help keep them warm on these extra-chilly days.
