Cottontail Cottage Rabbit Rescue: Spaying and Neutering

By  |

LAMOINE, Maine (WABI) - Betsy Migliore joins us again from the Cottontail Cottage Rabbit Rescue in Lamoine.

The rabbit rescue has two 8 week old bunnies up for adoption along with a variety of other rabbits. These bunnies cannot go home until they are spayed which will be around the time they are 6 months old.

Spaying and neutering rabbits is important to avoid an over abundance of pets. Rabbits are safe to be spayed or neutered at 6 months old. Female rabbits are able to become pregnant almost immediately after they are born so it is important to identify the gender of the animals in a liter and separate them.
