MILO, Maine (WABI) - Cole Land Transportation Museum and the Cole Foundation are helping to bring music to Maine high schools.
Today, they donated ten thousand dollars worth of instruments to Penquis Valley students.
It’s part of their music initiative to provide instruments to students who may not be able to afford them.
Principal Dan Ross says they are thankful for the donation as the students prepare for an upcoming musical.
“A lot of times, schools get hung up on really hammering home math, English, science, and STEM subjects and music can sometimes get left out but a lot of our kids really crave art, music, ways to get creative.”
“No child should be limited on their ability to do something that they love whether it’s becoming a professor, or becoming a teacher, becoming a businessperson or becoming a musician,” said Jim Neville of Cole Foundation.
The instruments came from Mark's Music in Brewer.
We're told the business provided them at a discounted rate.
