Classes were cancelled Tuesday at two schools in RSU 38 due to a threat, officials said.

School was cancelled at Maranacook Community Middle School and Maranacook Community High School.

"Due to a concern for campus safety, there will not be school today, November 28 at the middle school and high school," officials wrote on the department's Facebook page. "Middle school and high school students and staff should not report to school, as the schools will be closed. Additionally, there will be no activities after school today."

The threat did not effect elementary schools in the district.

Police said there was an anonymous threat sent via social media Monday night.
