PORTLAND, Maine (WMTW) A Cape Elizabeth company is training some Portland firefighters, thanks to a federal grant.
Members of Rescue Company 31 are learning boat handling skills as well as rescue swimmer techniques.
"This year is a good example. With these hurricanes that have gone by, our surf situation was exceptional these past couple of months, but people still go out in their boats. People still get in trouble, and so rescues can come in at any time... any season." Says Joe Mokry of Ocean Rescue Systems International.
The company does training exercises all over the world.
