NEWPORT, Maine (WABI) - The Scouts from Troop 63 are back at it in Newport this weekend.
This will be the 8th year that the Boy Scout Troop has held their Camping for Food event.
They arrived Thursday night and until Sunday will be calling the front lawn of the Newport Hannaford.
They are looking for donations for the Newport Area Food Bank.
"It builds character because this is not an easy weekend," said Scout Master Rod Charette, "We've had rain, snow, wind, subzero temperatures. We had a huge snow pile here one year. It's not an easy weekend to camp out so it teaches them humility. It's teaches them service. It toughens them up a little bit frankly."
Last year they collected more than 3,000 pounds of food and nearly 3,000 dollars.
They hope to improve on both of those totals this year.
