Calais Regional Hospital will no longer be managed by the Tennessee based company, Quorum Health Resources.

The board of directors in Calais says it was a mutual agreement to discontinue the services.

They say no changes will be made to hospital leadership nor will patient care be impacted.

The nurses' union released a statement applauding this decision, saying the hospital has been paying nearly one million dollars a year to Quorum Health for their management services.

That's money the nurses wish to see spent locally to better provide services to patients.

Within the last year, administrators closed the obstetrics department and suspended the infusion services department due to the hospital's financial condition.
