Bike Maine Cycling Tour Makes Stop in Pittsfield

PITTSFIELD, Maine (WABI) Pittsfield welcomed cyclists to take a pit stop in Manson Park on Sunday.

Folks gathered to support those riding in Bike Maine.

It's a seven day cycling tour where 400 people pedal their way through New England.

The cyclists travel around 50 miles per day.

The event was a time not only to rest but to have fun around town and view the farmers and crafters market.

"We're interested in getting more into biking, and getting the children so that they learn about bicycling," said Kathryn Ruth, Town Manager. "So, there's a lot of opportunities now that we've been selected as one of the Bike Maine towns."

"The goal is just to raise the awareness of the Bicycle Coalition of Maine, who's mission is to make Maine better for bicycling, and walking, and also raise the profile of Maine for bicycle tourism," said Zach Schmesser, Event Director for Bike Maine.

The next stop for those participating in Bike Maine is Kingfield.
