BANGOR, Maine (WABI) Students in the Bangor School Department have familiar faces helping them cross the road on their way to and from school this year.
Twenty-eight Bangor school district employees are taking on the role of crossing guard.
This comes after Seacoast Security told Bangor Police and the district that they would no longer be able to provide that service. Due to a closing in that side of the business.
School officials say there was not enough time for the district to put the work out to bid, so now they have hourly employees helping out.
The superintendent says this was the best option since they were notified so late in the summer.
