Bangor Humane Society Takes in Dogs Affected by Hurricane Harvey

BANGOR, Maine (WABI) The Bangor Humane Society is doing its part to help animals affected by Hurricane Harvey.

This morning, 15 dogs were transported to the shelter from Corpus Christi, Texas.

The dogs will be quarantined for two weeks before being made available for adoption.
Folks at the shelter say the animals are all previously unowned.

“Human shelters don't allow pets in in the shelter so owners really have very little options on what to do with their pets.” said Susan Prendergast, Executive Director of the Bangor Humane Society. “A lot of them get separated. So what we're able to do working with our southern shelters is to get animals that were already in the shelter out so that they can then take in the animals that are lost so that owners can hopefully find them.”
